GOD’S 10 COMMANDMENTS AS FOUND IN THE NEW TESTAMENT

In Matthew 5:17 Yahusha, Jesus in Hebrew, said this:

“Do not think that I came to abolish the Torah…” (the Law or 10 Commandments)

And then in Matthew 19:16-18 ISV we read how important it is to obey the 10 Commandments in order to keep eternal life:

16 Just then a man came up to Jesus.“Teacher,” he asked, “what good deed should I do to have eternal life?” 17 Jesus asked him, “Why ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you want to get into that life, you must keep the commandments.”

Even after Yahusha (Jesus) had already died for our sins then the women followers were still keeping the 4th Commandment of the Sabbath.

Luke 23:55-56 Tree of Life Version – TLV
55 The women who had come with Him from the Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how His body was laid. 56 Then they returned and prepared spices and perfumes. But on Shabbat they rested according to the Commandment.

They could have even tried to justify doing something that was “good” on the Sabbath but that’s not what Yahusha taught. Only an absolute life sustaining effort is allowed to be done on the Sabbath, is what Yahusha taught.

If God had really wanted us to stop keeping even just one of His 10 Commandments then why did the followers of Jesus continue to keep the Sabbath, and all the other 9 Commandments? Surely, Jesus would have already told them that it would no longer be necessary to keep His Commandments after I die for your sins. So were these women followers being disobedient by still keeping the 4th Commandment? Of course not.

However, it does appear remotely possible that maybe for just a few who are truly sincere that they could enter into God’s Kingdom of Heaven just as the thief did on the cross. He just barely made it in with his dying breath, yet he was constantly breaking Yah’s 7th Commandment.

      Matthew 5:19
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus said that “You must be born again” but afterwards we usually will continue to live on the earth instead of immediately going directly to Heaven, like the “last minute” repentant thief did.

Then after we are born again we are also to be water baptized and filled with God’s Holy Spirit as taught in the New Testament.

1 John 3:24 The one who keeps His Commandments abides in God, and God in him. We know that He abides in us by this—by the Spirit He has given us.

Finally, we are to also continue to keep all of God’s 10 Love Commandments.

Yeshua actually made our salvation a little harder for us instead of making it easier. Most mainstream denominations have been preaching their liberal gospel message of the “last minute” thief on the cross or greasy grace. I suppose someone could take that risk but who really knows when the last minute is? Only Yah. So the last minute greasy grace message is not Yah’s preferred plan of salvation. Yes, we are born again by His grace through faith but our salvation does not just end there. Instead, we have only just begun to learn how to love God, ourselves, and others in order to complete our salvation and to fulfill His 10 Commandments, just as Yahusha did it and many others did it as found throughout the Scriptures.

John 15:10 “If you keep My Commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s Commandments and abide in His love.”

      Supporting New Testament Scriptures below:

1 John 5:1-3 TLV 1 Everyone who believes that Yeshua is the Messiah is born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves the one born of Him. 2 We know that we love God’s children by this—when we love God and obey His Commandments. 3 For this is the love of God—that we keep His Commandments. And His Commandments are not burdensome.

1 John 3:22 … whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His Commandments and do what is pleasing in His sight.

Revelation 14:12 The Passion Translation – TPT This is a call for the endurance and faithfulness of the holy believers – those who follow God’s Commandments and cling to the faith of Jesus. (Born Again believers in Jesus).
Revelation 12:17 So the dragon became enraged at the woman (Israel) and went off to make war with the rest of her offspring—those who keep the Commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Yeshua. (Born Again believers in Jesus).

John 14:21 He who has My Commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. He who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him.”

Yahusha demonstrated and showed the world how to love. Love is keeping our Heavenly Father’s 10 Commandments. Why would He come to demonstrate and show us how to love and then suddenly turn around and tell us, oh, it’s ok not to keep some of My Commandments? Because He never said anything like that or even hinted about it. It’s not ok to pick and choose each day from any of God’s 10 Commandments of showing Love.

Mark 7:7-9 7 And in vain they worship Me,
teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ 8 Having left behind the Commandments of God, you hold on to the tradition of men.” 9 He was also telling them, “You set aside the Commands of God, in order that you may validate your own tradition.

      King James Version
Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do His Commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. (Heaven’s New Jerusalem)

Matthew 22:35-40 TLV And testing Him, one of them, a lawyer, asked, 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Torah?” (1st 5 books of Old Testament) 37 And He said to him, “‘You shall love Adonai your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. (He just summarized the meaning of the 1st four Commandments on how you are to show your love for God) 39 And the second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ (He just summarized the meaning of the last 6 Commandments on how to show your love for yourself and for others) 40 The entire Torah and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

So Yahusha has just summarized and simplified His 10 Commandments for us by calling all of the Commandments what? Yah’s definition of: Love.

After being born again we are to learn how to show love, as it is found in the 10 Commandments. However, if someone were to repeatedly and habitually refuse to keep even just one of His 10 Love Commandments then could it be possible that they may hear these frightening words from Yahusha?

Matthew 7:23 Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you. Get away from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’” (not keeping God’s 10 Commandments is lawlessness)
      I never knew, what?

      You.

      How frightening is that?

I John 3:3-4 Now we know that we have come to know Him by this—if we keep His Commandments. 4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His Commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Maybe Yahusha never got to know you intimately enough and consistently enough because there was very little reciprocating love, if any at all, of His kind of 4 Love Commandments that He wants to be shown back to Yah? Also, maybe there just was never enough consistent love being shown to others and yourself of His other 6 Love Commandments?

I don’t know how He will decide in anyone’s life. All I can do is share what it says in His Word.

Love was defined for us by Yah thousands of years ago and it was written into God’s 10 Commandments as follows:

      Deuteronomy 5:6-21
6 ‘I am Adonai your God, who brought you out from the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
7 ‘You shall not have other gods beside Me.
8 ‘Do not make for yourself a graven image—no image of what is in the heavens above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. 9 Do not bow down to them or worship them. For I, Adonai your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and on the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me, 10 but showing lovingkindness to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My mitzvot. (Commandments).
11 ‘You must not take the Name of Adonai your God in vain, for Adonai will not leave unpunished anyone who takes His Name in vain.
12 ‘Observe Yom Shabbat to keep it holy, as Adonai your God commanded you. 13 Six days you are to labor and do all your work, 14 but the seventh day is a Shabbat to Adonai your God. In it you are not to do any work—not you or your son or your daughter, or your slave or your maid, or your ox, your donkey or any of your livestock or the outsider within your gates, so that your slave and your maid may rest as you do. 15 You must remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and Adonai your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore Adonai your God commanded you to keep Yom Shabbat.
16 ‘Honor your father and your mother just as Adonai your God commanded you, so that your days may be long and it may go well with you in the land Adonai your God is giving you.
      17 ‘Do not murder.
      ‘Do not commit adultery.
      ‘Do not steal.
‘Do not bear false witness against your neighbor.
18 ‘Do not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor desire your neighbor’s house, his field, his manservant, his maidservant, his ox, his donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.’
19 “These words Adonai spoke to all your assembly on the mountain from the midst of the fire, the cloud and the fog, with a great voice. He added no more. He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me, (Moses).
      Live and Prolong Your Days
20 “As soon as you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was blazing with fire, you came near to me—all the heads of your tribes and your elders. 21 Then you said, ‘Adonai our God has just shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire. This day we have seen that God speaks with man, and yet he keeps on living.
      Deuteronomy 6:5-9

5 “Love Adonai your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These words, which I am commanding you today, are to be on your heart. 7 You are to teach them diligently to your children, and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise up. 8 Bind them as a sign on your hand, they are to be as frontlets between your eyes, 9 and write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

Did you happen to notice the connection of how the word “Love” in verse 5 is being defined by “These words, which I am commanding you today”, in verse 6?

      I John 5:3
For this is the love of God—that we keep His Commandments…

John 14:15 “If you love Me, you will keep My Commandments.

2 Peter 2:20-22 20 For if—after escaping the world’s pollution through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Yeshua the Messiah—they again become entangled in these things and are overcome, the end for them has become worse than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after learning about it, to turn back from the holy Commandments passed on to them. 22 What has happened to them confirms the truth of the proverb, “A dog returns to its vomit,” and “A scrubbed pig heads right back into the mud.”

Romans 7:12 So then, the Torah is holy, and the Commandments are holy and righteous and good.

Finally, why would Yahusha tell us in Matthew 24 to be praying during those final last days to avoid having that final day to ever occur on a Sabbath? He was expecting those surviving followers of the last days’ tribulation to still be keeping the Sabbath even to the very last day of the end of the age? Even upon His 2nd coming? He still never wanted any of us to be breaking His Sabbath 4th Commandment.

      Matthew 24:3; 10-22 GNT

3 As Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him in private. “Tell us when all this will be,” they asked, “and what will happen to show that it is the time for your coming and the end of the age.”
10 Many will give up their faith at that time; they will betray one another and hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will appear and fool many people. 12 Such will be the spread of evil that many people’s love will grow cold. 13 But whoever holds out to the end will be saved. 14 And this Good News about the Kingdom will be preached through all the world for a witness to all people; and then the end will come. 15 “You will see ‘The Awful Horror’ of which the prophet Daniel spoke. It will be standing in the holy place.” (Note to the reader: understand what this means!) 16 “Then those who are in Judea must run away to the hills. 17 Someone who is on the roof of a house must not take the time to go down and get any belongings from the house. 18 Someone who is in the field must not go back to get a cloak. 19 How terrible it will be in those days for women who are pregnant and for mothers with little babies! 20 Pray to God that you will not have to run away during the winter or on a Sabbath! 21 For the trouble at that time will be far more terrible than any there has ever been, from the beginning of the world to this very day. Nor will there ever be anything like it again. 22 But God has already reduced the number of days; had he not done so, nobody would survive. For the sake of his chosen people, however, God will reduce the days.
Isaiah 58:13-14 GNT 13 The Lord says, “If you treat the Sabbath as sacred and do not pursue your own interests on that day; if you value my holy day and honor it by not traveling, working, or talking idly on that day, 14 then you will find the joy that comes from serving me. I will make you honored all over the world, and you will enjoy the land I gave to your ancestor, Jacob. I, the Lord, have spoken.”

      Isaiah 58:13-14 (The Passion Translation)
“If you stop pursuing your own desires on My holy day, and refrain from disregarding the Sabbath,
if you call the Sabbath a delightful pleasure and Yahweh’s holy day honorable,
if you honor it properly by not chasing your own desires, serving your own interests, and speaking empty words, then you will find the joyous bliss that comes from serving Yahweh.
And I will cause you to prosper and be carried triumphantly over the high places of the land.
You will enjoy the heritage of Jacob, your ancestor.” Certainly the mouth of Yahweh has spoken it!”

Isaiah 58:13-14 JUB 13 ¶ If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy will on my holy day; and call the sabbath the delightful, holy, glorious day of the LORD; and shalt honor him by not doing thine own ways, nor seeking thine own will, nor speaking thine own words:
14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth and cause thee to eat of the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.
